Our goal is to find happiness in the routine, but pushing ourselves to try new and innovative ways to create (art with different media), and explore this beautiful world as a community.

Why Glow and Grow Children’s Centre?

Because we practice a pedagogy that will not restrict your child’s imagination and creativity.

Because we believe in your child’s present value and capacities.

Because we see beauty in difference and treat everyone with equity and deep respect.

Because we love to co-create with children. We bake together, prepare snacks together, garden together, learn pottery together, wonder together, create original art together, tell and create stories together, take trips together, learn whole bodily together, etc.

Staff

Being a mother of two, I am fully aware of all the moments of joy, happiness, wonder, and…cries.

I have always seen children as capable human beings who can choose and decide for themselves what they need and wish to do. The only difference with us, adults, is that they put more time in things that really matter, take explore longer, they wonder more, and they share more. I have been always surprised by children! My image of the child informs my practice and that image is of a competent, creative, clever, and sophisticated child. I will respect these qualities in everything I do! I am a continuous learner and I am also educated in the department of ECCE of Capilano University.

Our living environment

Living in the city of North Vancouver has given us the privilege of incorporating nature into our curriculum. Exploring natural materials promotes the sense of belonging to nature in children. The children’s imagination and creativity will not  be limited when they are engaged with beautiful natural materials. The more our children spend time in nature, the more nature becomes part of their being. The way children are engaged with certain materials is essential to their development. A piece of wood can be used as a plate, and two minutes later it is a birthday cake (the so called “embodied Metaphor). We will learn through exploring: shadow, light, color, water, clay, branches, rocks, wool, and many other materials.

Our mission is to offer children a place of learning and being that will cherish every moment to the fullest! Let’s live, explore, and play every moment because it will never come back!
